Me

About

I am Stephanie, a student at University. I have always loved crafts of different kinds -
drawing from a young age, and quickly picked up sewing as well other skills. I've
learnt different types and processes involved with knitting, weaving and printing
fabrics at university. Which has built on my interest in fashion and fashion illustrations
-  this has built on my interests in designing clothing for women.

I admire a lot of styles of work and many artists who work in different mediums from
each other. Inspiration for me comes everywhere, and I am still learning how to expand
on my work. My current project based on texture and Graffiti is a good example of this.

I use Youtube, Etsy and Pinterest daily. I am also making great use of both Twitter
and Facebook.

Textiles

I have studied textiles at college and University, even taken a 'zero' year extending
my time at university - which let me build on different skills and learn a lot of new
ones too.

I am in my final year of textiles, and want to work. I want the experience and to
continue to build my skills - putting them to use.

Skills

I am a artist and designer; I knit, sew, draw and weave.

These days I do a lot of weaving. I use the jacquard, the 16 shaft hand looms, and the
24 shaft Textel looms. Each can be used differently, setup differently and different
materials used. It's been interesting making these design choices and experimenting.
However, I have also learnt various print and knit techniques from my first two years at university.

I've taught myself  to crochet, macrame and knit, by hand.
Whilst university has taught me to knit on a manual machine, as well as using some
industry machines to design digital work to knit. This has been the same for
Print and Weave too. This has allowed me to explore both digital work and work by
 hand, mixing techniques.

Interests

I want a knitting machine, I love to knit, and have enjoyed keeping this a personal
hobby to build on. I have experimented with different types of knitting and yarns.

I enjoy photography, though unlike most who do, I don't take my camera everywhere
- though I wish I did.

Most of all I love sewing - I have trouble fitting in time for my sewing machine or
much sewing by hand, but I usually have something going on as a little side
project. I'm also building a collection of patterns but have yet to sewing clothing
from them. Though I have done several projects where I've made clothing without
a pattern or edited actual clothing.
