G.O : My business cards!

They arrived - I'm so happy!

I've been waiting on these business cards for a while, and they arrived a while back though I didn't share this sooner - and though they are only mini cards I'm glad to see them here and ready to hand out. Though they missed my degree show and didn't go to the event New  Designers along with other work that was presented (Mine wasn't selected however, I was featured in the catalog alongside the rest of the class, with my contact details).

Yep they are from Moo! I like the options
they give you , but the problem is the same
with all printing places no matter how cheap
they are - postage/delivery prices can be pretty
hefty if you want things sooner than later.
This has had a big impact on this summer though. My blog has had a number of more views - over 500! Which makes me really proud of myself and the work I'm doing here online. It's only going to push me to be better and work harder.

However, as I am leaving university I do have a number of things to work around - packing, moving plans, projects and saying good bye. There's also sorting my old stuff and where the remaining stuff will go, there's also job searching and interviews, which also includes organising and traveling for each situation too. But its all going good and these business cards will help me continue with getting something textile related work-wise in the future. I love the little box I got them in and I also ordered a separate black box for them which will help me not lose them all in one go.

They came in three colours; red, pink and purple. With three variations of the textures which you can see. This isn't a  custom design like I had originally planned, I even tried sampling some photographs but they didn't work out. Not of the images represented my work well, and there was little to differentiate the weave structure and textures and there's just white and no colour to create a contrast. But I loved this texture piece and it really links in with my work - having the theme of textures. But the colours are also those in my blog and I think they are represented well here.

Patterns and Plans

Yesterday, I had a bit of a break during the evening from my friends costume - I'm making as a favor as I invited her to a friends party, for the end of university. A project I'll tell you more about soon, though you might have already read about the unicorn horn I've made.
* Not my image, this is from the sources blog.

Anyway during this break I wanted to look at some of the fabrics I've pulled out to use before I move. I really wanted to look at some high necked cami patterns, as I wanted something a little smarter and more covering for the colder days in England. I stumbled upon this blog from another blog Marilla Walker.
Its a sweet blog and I found it because of this little skirt - named the Ilsley skirt another blogger referenced and used to made three skirts with some edits and various fabrics.

I'm hoping to make great use of this pattern too - I could use some skirts with little details like curved hems and plenty of pocket space.

Leaving uni

It's been kind of weird. I'm at home/halls more at the moment and not doing a lot compared to having class and having things to stay on top of.
I'm not doing nothing, I wouldn't be able to stand it. I can be lazy but I can't go from being busy to nothing, ever. That's normal for me, I doing this more that's weird. Even with all the job searching and sorting my stuff. Its nice I can see my housemates every day for dinner, without missing them for three/four days. And see them any other time I want.

The weirdest thing is I don't feel like I've finished. I don't feel like I'm done with university, maybe because even if I am chasing employment and experience, I know I'll come back to an MA, or other studies. I do a lot of different crafts (-sewing, knitting, weaving, art, photography, print ) and I'll continue learning these for a very long time - I'll keep picking up more crafts to keep me busy and to build on any work I design.

It'd be nice to feel like I'm done and that I've completed something. Sure I always miss working, class, and my class mates over summer. But I usually feel like I've completed something.

Hopefully this will change soon with finding work, but I am keeping busy with my hobbies and I'm expanding my presence online. I have a few little projects to plan, and I have a little notebook to fill with them. Hopefully by the time its full I'll have a job x

That is very hopeful I know, but wish me luck.

facebook: ChangingWardrobes
twitter: @AnimalRev
instagram: lizzone_steph

Sorry there is a selection of names but a lot were taken. If you want these choices explained then continue reading.

Lizzone is a nickname I made from my middle name Elizabeth, as a kid, for a few reasons; I hated Stephanie  as a kid and both online and console games its boring and long to save, especially if you have to go through the alphabet for s and t.  Its just something I've kept for a long time and I often don't like using my real name online, especially when I was younger.

Animal rev is short for Animal revolution a name I gave my etsy store. I choose that as I was creating Animal themed pieces through up-cycling and I don't like creating waste, so I'm trying to be environmentally friendly (even if I'm still very far from doing my best to do more) and if I ever picked it up again it will reflect where I started, even if I change that name later.

And changing wardrobes is short for this blog's title but reflects what I want to do with this blog and Facebook page - which is fashion and sewing for the most part. A better name than getting on, I think.

These names aren't meant to be connecting a large number of people over different networks and I actually want to separate these audiences and what I share - I'll always be me, but I want to share different parts of me honestly - not create 3 different versions or 'brands' of myself. However I know a lot of these aren't going to be completely separate if I'm proud of something I'll want to show it off, or if I think someone on one social media will appreciate a photo more or an inspiring artist - I'll share it on what I think is best.

I want to do the best I can and continue building myself online, for a passing audience, a 'follower' or just a another student who finds a like minded person. I like to make people smile, but best doing this makes me smile - I'm doing something and I'm getting something done. This makes me happy.

Sorry I haven't been posting ..........................

Hey,

Sorry I have been updating or posting anything lately but not a lot is going on besides manning the degree show and job searches. I have picked up a little project I finished in two days but I just want to do the finishing touches before I share it on here and Facebook, and twitter, and now I have instagram too.

So, this list of links is going to get longer but I'm hoping it'll help me share my work and my designs more. I have done a massive update to my instagram to include old work - textiles and photography mostly, inspiring photos and drawing and some sweeter things to make me smile. This account will be more personal to me but nothing I'm unhappy to share. I think it will remain all my own work and photos for the majority and share only a little of what inspires me there. I think I should probably talk more about those posts on here really.

I have also done some business cards - I've opted for mini cards as they look really sweet and when they arrive I'll make sure to share some photos when they arrive, on here and anywhere else I can. I'm quite excited, maybe this will make me feel like I'm actually leaving university and studies. But I'll talk more about that later

My first job for Tuesday is to update those links for you lots and those interested, but I hope you guys are hearing from me on a more personal note soon on me leaving university - as I will try to keep the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday update schedule.
Then a must is to find a new project! A big must!
