G . O : Pinterest

Getting On :

Pinterest Boards :

This is my board on Pinterest - with my Etsy. I have only recently made this addition but have several boards for personal events and research. Largely for reference photos, designs and textile techniques. I have used it through university. I've looked into knitting, cooking, sewing, fashion and clothes patterns.

I have a love for cosplay but very little experience - Pinterest has been a great way to explore so much. And with some keep research, pictures and some links over a long period. I often can't gather a lot of what I enjoy in one place to look back at years later, that isn't my own work or writings.

I hope that adding my own work and experiences will add to someone else doing the same. Trying some new or finding something they like to look at. Even if its just someone looking and feeling like they can also make that theirs.

A Wide Range

From my first year to my fourth year at university I drew a lot - from studies of work and real life objects or scenery. I drew from my mind and imagination, building on older work to develop ideas and styles. I painted, I used pencil, pen or crayon and pastels.
I looked at a lot of materials, themes and explored as much as I could. Style, materials and texture were often important in my studies.

G.O: Butterfly Doodles

I've mentioned my interest in Spoon flowers contests and weekly competitions - well I thought I'd share my work to draw butterflies. I actually went out of my way to but a little antique book of English Butterflies.  I posted an image of the book on my Instagram.

This little book with its coloured plates of butterflies - claiming them to be true to size, allowed me to explore different sizes, shapes and colours of Butterflies.

I used felt tip pens with water - to dull the colour and then build it over layers. It also allows for  strong lines of colour and bleeding in areas. I used the pens like watercolours and it can create similar results though some colours are much harder to build upon (e.g. yellow) and grey/blacks are hard to keep strong without it bleeding into several other colours when too much water is used.

I also played with composition to create a much busier pattern, something I don't often do. I wanted all the colour and the clashing of all the butterflies. I played with scale, with different sizes and never repeating a pattern. Though this allowed me to play and explore more than create a final piece.

I am sorry, but I won't be sharing my final designs any time soon. However these
studies and drawings will inform further work. This will be created using a digital
tablet and software. I am really looking forward to continuing this work.

Sorry I haven't been posting ..........................

Hey,

Sorry I have been updating or posting anything lately but not a lot is going on besides manning the degree show and job searches. I have picked up a little project I finished in two days but I just want to do the finishing touches before I share it on here and Facebook, and twitter, and now I have instagram too.

So, this list of links is going to get longer but I'm hoping it'll help me share my work and my designs more. I have done a massive update to my instagram to include old work - textiles and photography mostly, inspiring photos and drawing and some sweeter things to make me smile. This account will be more personal to me but nothing I'm unhappy to share. I think it will remain all my own work and photos for the majority and share only a little of what inspires me there. I think I should probably talk more about those posts on here really.

I have also done some business cards - I've opted for mini cards as they look really sweet and when they arrive I'll make sure to share some photos when they arrive, on here and anywhere else I can. I'm quite excited, maybe this will make me feel like I'm actually leaving university and studies. But I'll talk more about that later

My first job for Tuesday is to update those links for you lots and those interested, but I hope you guys are hearing from me on a more personal note soon on me leaving university - as I will try to keep the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday update schedule.
Then a must is to find a new project! A big must!
